What Happens Before Construction?

Step 1

An initial discussion. Call Ben to get advice on your small lot or narrow lot block.

Step 2

Arrange an appointment. Ben will meet you either at his office or your home to discuss your needs, your block of land, design briefs and costs.

Step 3

You are given the concept plans including house plans and front elevation drawings plus an estimate of the home construction costs with inclusions. You can look these over with Ben.

Step 4

The preliminary agreement stage. If you are happy with the concept drawings and estimates, a deposit is required for a contour and features survey, engineering drawings, and the footings design.

Step 5

Your working drawings and contracts will be sent to you in the post. Ben will go through any queries with you.

Step 6

Apply to the relevant authorities for approvals. The time this takes varies depending upon the shire.

Step 7

Book in a time for prestart and contract signing. You will have already gone through all your colour selections and item selections for prestart with Ben. You will be asked to confirm the costings and to authorise the building contracts.

Step 8

Granting of the builder’s licence.

Now you are ready to move on to the Building Process.
